QANUN

Privacy policy

Effective 29 October 2026. This policy covers the Qanun apps for Android, Windows and Mac.

In short: Qanun has no accounts, no advertising and no analytics. What you add to Qanun stays on your device. Text leaves your device only when you use a feature that needs the internet, such as the AI, a PubMed search or a picture from Wikimedia Commons, and it goes straight from your device to that service. We, the developer, do not receive it.

Who we are

Qanun is made by Dr. Owais Nawaz Khan, Pakistan. For any question about this policy, write to [email protected].

What stays on your device

Everything you add to Qanun is kept in the app's private storage on your device:

We have no server that receives this information, so we cannot see it. Backups and exports are made only when you ask for them, and saved where you choose (for example your Downloads folder).

When information leaves your device

Some features need the internet. In each case the request goes directly from your device to the service named here, over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Each service handles what it receives under its own privacy policy.

As with any internet request, these services can see your device's IP address. If you use the free version of Google's AI service, Google may use the text it receives to improve its products; please read Google's terms. Never type patient names or other details that could identify a patient.

Licences

Qanun shows a device code, worked out on your device from the device's own identifier by a one-way calculation. It is never sent anywhere by the app. If you choose to send it to us to obtain a licence, we keep a record of the licences we issue: the name on the licence, the device code, the plan and its dates. You can ask us to delete this record.

Reports and feedback

If you report a problem with a question, Qanun prepares the report and you choose how to send it, for example by email or WhatsApp. We receive only what you send, and use it only to correct the question bank.

Permissions

The Android app asks only for internet access. It opens files only when you pick them (to import a book or restore a backup), and saves files only when you ask (exports and backups to Downloads).

Children

Qanun is made for medical students and doctors. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Deleting your information

Because your information is on your device, you control it. Use Settings, Privacy and data, Delete my data, or uninstall the app; both remove it from the device. Copies you saved yourself (backups, exports) stay until you delete them. To remove a licence record, write to us.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. Important changes will also be shown in the app.
